Housing opportunities for young adults on the autism spectrum at Hub of Opportunities.
Columbus Community Center is preparing to open our newest location at the Hub of Opportunity, a designed community with mixed residential options, a transit-oriented location, and a variety of educational and vocational supports on-site. We have begun leasing and have started a waitlist.
There are a few options available for young adults on the autism spectrum who are interested in beginning a life of independence, and our staff has identified you as someone who might benefit from one of these options. This is a rare opportunity, and if the timing is right for you, we encourage that you apply for an apartment as soon as possible.
NextWork Residential Pilot Program
We currently have openings for participants in our NextWork Residential Pilot Program. This program includes a one-bedroom apartment and individualized services designed to increase the resident’s capacity for independence. In its inaugural year as a pilot program, financial assistance may be available. The limited number of apartments are located above the NextWork space in the Hub of Opportunity. Leases are available for one year, with a limit of three years renewal. All residents are required to participate in at least one service from the NextWork program. Participants of these programs design their schedule and indicate which services they elect, in addition to classes we require for participation. Required classes include: finance, safety, accessing your community, and forming healthy relationships. This individualized program uses a hybrid of classroom and community education, social engagement, and support for individuals as they learn the skills needed to live and work in the community.
